Mary Compton, who I believe is on this site, has a wonderful barn cat program. It is a wonderful chance to save the life of a cat who would not adapt to living in a home and would be much happier living in a nice barn safe from the elements.

I may have some available if you are still looking. The kittens are only 5 weeks old so wonít be ready to go for about 2-3 more weeks. They were born in the barn and I pulled them from the mother so I could catch them.

Shockrahawn, send me an email with your contact. Iím not sure of their sex but it looks like 2 may be males. There is an orange, a black and a white. I may have homes for one or two but nothing is confirmed yet. They are still on formula so it will be a few weeks before they are ready.

Kittens are wonderful....they can easily be socialized and acclimated to live in the house with people. Kittens don't usually have a hard time finding a home.

For those of you looking for a barn cat, please consider adopting a rescued feral kitty or a kitty that is not suitable for placement in a home.

These cats make GREAT barn kitties and sometimes become friendly with the people they associate most with.

Kittens are wonderful and are easily socialized.
Friendly kittens though deserve a chance at a safe indoor home!!!

For your barn, please consider those cats who are not suitable for placement in a home!!

Animalkind has a barn-cat program that's a great resource http://animalkindny.org/feral-barn-cats. It's also a wonderful organization. They have a TNR program, and they have a pet-food bank to help people who are short on funds. It's located in Hudson, NY, which is in eastern upstate NY, just over the border from Mass.

Thank you for your help finding a kitten! I canít wait to meet her.

As for the trap and release programs and people who say they have a barn cat program... we found that The situation wasnít ideal for that. For this ďbarnĒ a kitten is important because the set up, the cat really needs to be in the house to know the house is home. Itís not a stable type barn but run inís and a shed row. So for true protection it also needs to be friendly in the house too.

Standish Humane Society has many cats all ages in need of homes. I have a non-feral young cat that has high play drive and is an amazing mouser.

Iím just going to bump this. I know more people kitten searching because their situation calls for a kitten (existing animals in the home) only interested in local to Mansfield Easton Taunton that general area. Shelters charge fees most people donít want to pay knowing a kitten requires boosters and more vetting than an adult cat may cost. Yes yes I know adopt from shelters but seriously $250 for a kitten turns many away.

Shelter fees, at least "local to Taunton," are nowhere NEAR $250.00!!

You get a kitten spayed with shots!! I bought a kitten on Craigslist (because I couldn't find any kittens) 2 years ago. She was 150 then the 1 year shots/worming and spaying was $500. If I were looking for another I would wait til a shelter had kittens!

Silver the few shelters in areas like in Bellingham, situate.. are charging over $200 for kittens. (They currently have kittens) Adult cats are much less. I would rather take it before itís spayed and bring it to my own vet personally but Iím not the one looking, just my opinion.

Really not looking for a debate. Just helping others with their search.
