I have a 30+ yr old mare with no back teeth. She really canít chew hay but I still give her some. I can only give her very soft second cut grass hay in a small hole hay net so she canít get too much st a time. She mainly eats soaked hay stretcher .

Real bad time finding soft hay, what farmers say is soft is not soft hay . Since he has heaves I have to soak his hay but always would spread his hay around thinking about getting a plastic bucket to try and control his mess and wasting hay. I also have Timothy pellets I wet until it is a mash

We had an old campaigner at 35 who no longer could eat hay. He loved his Lucerne Farms Dengie AlfaSupreme and soaked beet pulp.

Melzen's in Glastonbury carrys both. I prefer Spedi-Beet for the beet pulp. It soaks super fast & is non GMO.
