Any places better than others? We’ve got Goddard park memorized. Love it there but keep looking for other bug free places.

Try Myles Standish in Plymouth/Carver. So near the ocean there are seldom bugs.

Not so many deer flies or horse flies around here but I've never seen this many face flies. I have notices bot flies eggs on their legs, few ticks in the pasture, probably just waiting for fall to arrive.

Faceflies, midges, and stable flies here in cNH. Deerflies mostly gone except in deeper, damper woods. And of course mosquitoes.
When things go wrong, don't go with them.

Hardly any mosquitoes here. I think my flock of barn swallows keep up with them.

Bill, we are heading up to Lake Dennison Sunday. Aren’t you somewhat near there?

If you find a place that does not have them, this is because they are all in the woods in the western suburbs. Big swarms of them, so thick you could get 10-15 in one palm-swat.

Fella was a rock star but was clearly very put-out with them. Ears of his fly mask were coated with them, like bees on a hive. He's not sound at the trot but he and I agreed to move out anyway, just to get out of there. I'm not going out there again for at least a week.

What kind of bugs are you referring to Sharon? mosquito's or deer flies, I'm thinking deer flies?

It don't matter what kind of bugs they was, Bill. The only thing that matters is whether they was dead, or whether they was alive. Now, more of 'em is dead. [Spins guns back into holsters and mounts and rides off into the saloon. Cue music from Clint Eastwood Western movie.]

But it was a combination of gnats, mosquitos, and deerflies.

Very few biting flies Sunday at the Lake Dennison ride. Parked at Birch Hill Dam area and what beautiful trails. Footing couldn’t be better. So glad we made the 2 hr trailer ride up, thanks BSTRA!

no bugs at Great Brook on Saturday, just down pouring rain LOL My white horse was filthy when I headed out on the trails and spotless upon return except for muddy piggy toes !
If I'm not in the office, I'm in the forest.
